I have a set of bushwacker cut out flares for a 2 dr cherokee/comanche installed on my 1989 raider, some trimming had to be done to adapt them to the contour of the raider's body

maybe you can get bushwacker to sell this same fenders with the gen1 contour

the normal fenders that come on the cherookee need to be trimmed on the front and must be fastened with glue, they don't look as good like the cut out version wich is fastened with screws and doesn't come down in the front, maybe using glue they woould rip off, because you have to bend them against the body when you are fastening each screw.

I received a reply from Kenneth Merritt at Bushwacker today. He said he could not locate the old Gen. 1 Montero molds.

Karl,

Thank you for your enquiry.

Yes we often ship accessories to the US and other overseas destinations. They can be supplied in just about any colour (if not all), and below is some extra information:

GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Duraflare Pajero Na-Ng 84-91 Front

DETAILED DESCRIPTION
A custom moulded wheel arch extension made from a flexible urethane material. Provides protection to paintwork from flying stones, resistant to minor bumps. Std in Black gel coat finish or can be painted to order.

At the moment you are looking at AUD$130 per pair plus freight for a quantity buy of 5 or more, or AUD$205 per set of 4 plus freight for similar qty buy.

Freight will be determined by the number of sets you order.

Please let me know if I can be of further assistance regarding these or any other Opposite Lock products.

Regards

Dear all

I chanced upon a local accessories store who is able to get the PU flares for the Gen 1 LWB for USD$275 excluding shipping from Singapore. The only issue is the flares might not adhere to the body as completely as the fiberglass ones as the PU ones are flexible. They will need rivets to adhere to body completely. The pieces are approximately 1mm thick and really flexible. I just checked them out today. If anyone is interested, I can grab them and post them out to you. Let me know.

I feel like I have chased this idea about as far as I could go with it, unless everyone wants to pony up big money for a set of flares...and I do not see that happening. Someone over on Outerlimits4x4 wrote that large numbers of Gen. 1 SWB's are currently being imported into New Zealand and many have factory type flares on them. He suggested trying to locate "wreckers" who might be selling parts off some of the lesser quality vehicles.

A day or two ago, I saw a T.V. special on the Harley Davidson V-Rod plant. I noticed fenders were stamped from flat sheet metal stock over a shaped mold. It did make me wonder if molds for this sort of thing would be cheaper to have made, and if flares could be stamped from steel? Any ideas along this line?

I liked the flares from the Russian site too. Anybody here speak Russian?
