There's not much in the way of apparel or apparel fabric still made in the States - at least not by historic standards.

The Hathaway shirt company was one of the last to stay in business, but I think they finally had to move production overseas about 5 years ago in order to stay afloat. I'm lucky enough to have bought one of their shirts in the late 90s that's 100% USA-made. To button it up is to know the feeling of pure unadulterated quality, we're talking meticulously crafted here. None of those little irregularities or stitching errors or loose threads like you find on third world slave-produced goods.

Noticed the sagging stock leaf springs we took out of my Jeep had "Made in MEXICO" stamped in them.

I always enjoy Franks insight on these matters

My Montero was made by the "Blue Team" in Japan. Thats what the sticker in the joor jam says. I think the "Blue Team" builds the best Montero's

What sticker? I need to go check mine.

It's kinda interesting that GM makes exactly the same trucks in the US, Canada and Mexico.

For those of you who may not know (and I'm sure there aren't many) I was a GM tech up until about a month ago.

I decided to start keeping track of how many trucks I worked on under warranty, what I fixed and where they were built.

You know what I found? It was very interesting.

They all suck in exactly the same ways. I was floored. GM's quality is so poor that there is no distinction based on where they are built.

Sure they make a substandard product. But look on the bright side... they're amazingly consistent at doing it on a huge scale! Analogy time. GM is to automobiles as Anheuser Busch is to beer.
