Looking great as always, Cory! I'm a dummy regarding fiberglass. How do you finish it? Is there a gel coat or something, or do you just prime and paint it?
Merry Christmas!

thanks guys !! best of the hollidays to you all !! Looking great as always, Cory! I'm a dummy regarding fiberglass. How do you finish it? Is there a gel coat or something, or do you just prime and paint it?
Merry Christmas! the white "gloss" finish is the gel coat .. there are always a few touch ups .. if you look around the window area you'll see a couple of areas where the gelcoat has "chipped" from trimming and pulling it from the mold .. so a little filler will fix that up . also for finishing up for paint .. it needs to have the "shine" scuffed off , so paint will "stick" so I'll take some scotch brite pads . and "take the shine off" .. then it'll be good to go !! .

not much happening on the Trekker right now .. I have been focusing on other things .. but rest assured .. there is Progress and I still WILL have it "driving" this year .. headliner "pad" is done and ready . I still have to mount the topper/canopy , and build a "transition cover" between the headliner on the cab and on the canopy . ![[Linked Image]](http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j2/bj_bumperboy/MY%20Trekker/SSPX0635.jpg) Canopy progress is on going .. and hope to have it done this week .. blocking the gelcoat , and prepping it for paint ![[Linked Image]](http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j2/bj_bumperboy/MY%20Trekker/SSPX0637.jpg) .

Sooo... after all the other custom fabbing you've done - why permanently mount the top? Why not make it removable lie the 4Runner?

so .. not been able to do much <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" /> ... but getting a little bit done .. I started cleaning up the inner alum. trim plates , stripped the powder coat and got one into zinc .. I still want to paint them "satin black" (same black as the rest) .. but heres what I got so far .. ![[Linked Image]](http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j2/bj_bumperboy/MY%20Trekker/SSPX0648.jpg) also making a new "transition" moulding for the cab and roof seam .. the old cardboard is just not usable again :-/ .. so with some carefull measurements , I trimmed up a 2X4 , to use as a mould , rounded the edges .. and made a fiberglass piece ![[Linked Image]](http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j2/bj_bumperboy/MY%20Trekker/SSPX0649.jpg) fitting it is next on the list .. .
