Getting the Wheeling Fever
What's it gonna take to put a 22R into my 22RE Truck? What's the most popular spot for the knock sensor again? Thanks...

Body Damage is Cool
If you are installing a 22R (carbureted motor) you won't need a knock sensor. -- Matt

I'm sorry... I'm converting it to FI.

Haha, I love this highlighted statement from teh above LCE link:

>
PAY SPECIAL ATTENTION WHEN DRILLING THE BLOCK. Do not drill any deeper than the current hole in the boss. By going too far, you will drill through the block.

Woops, that would suck!

YIKES. Don't drill the block. The other method I'm aware of is finding a nut that'll take the knock sensor and welding it to the spot 4Crawler indicates.

Good luck on your project!

In this thread I wrote and posted pictures of my 22RE swap. I had a rusted out '89 4runner as a donor for my '84 xtra cab. -- Matt

Well shucks- should i switch out the cam? I'm doing the timing chain anyway, and it only takes a few minutes additional. I guess i just answered my own question...
