After reading this thread a few times, I moved into lifting my Grand Sporty, so I got a few of the parts.
However I'm debating about what to do in the front. What I got from reading is that you may opt for longer springs (IRONMAN or similar) or simply put a spacer on top of the strut (right?).
I was wondering what are the pros & cons of each.
The spring seems to me to "open/extend" the front shock, while the spacer seems to just extend the whole "arm" and probably forcing your tires inward (reason for alignment)
Well, that's just what it seems to me, but I will appreciate your comments and/or recommendation on one option or the other.
Thx,

Im fabbing up some 2in spacers for the front.
My questions is has anyone had any experience with the rear springs from a Jeep JK, 2007-2010 4 door. Ive read they give the TJ a 1in lift so Im thinking on a Sporty it will be a 5in in the rear?
Anyone use these newer springs? Also will the OEM Jeep rear shocks fit?
Thanks

What is the number on the spring? its length and spring rate.
The difference between 104's and 106's on a sportage is 1". I have never read what the difference is on a Jeep.

I have made an enquiry with a new company in australia about suspension (OFF ROAD BOSS. http://www.offroadboss.com.au/I was drawn to them in a magazine as the picture of their rear shock does not have a dust cover which would eliminate some of the problems we have with lifting the rear, the rear shock position larger tyres on stock rims. I looked on their website this morning and the also do an adjustable height front strut. The shocks are also valve and rebound adjustable. Here's hoping that they are able to assist us with our never ending urge to modif our Sporties. I personally am looking at a three in lift with Dobinson Springs but if they can do four with out cv issues etc I could be be swayed that way. Cheers Chris

G'Day all,
I have spoken to Offroad Boss in Queensland Australia and sent a whole heap of photos of the front struts and rear shocks. Also sent through a few photos of the good work that has been achieved on this site in lifting the Sporty's. They are pretty confident at this stage from the photos that they can do something to help us out. They were also very surprised about the travel that can be achieved.
Fingers crossed we may have adjustable dampening longer front struts and rear shocks without the problem dust cover for the rear.
I will keep you all updated as I am going to be the guinea pig on this. I need to replace the suspension on my sporty and the front struts are passed there use by date as well.
Cheers, Chris

Where can I find the springs for the lift on a 2000 kia sportage, I just got one and would like to lift it. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Can I just go the the auto parts store and get them? If so, what brand and part numbers do I need? Thanks again.

You can't just order a lift kit for a sportage at your average parts store. There's only a couple options. They will probably look at you funny too. Everet can get your front end lifted with his custom spacers and swaybar extensions. He makes them and knows what he's doing and has all the info you'll need to put a lift together. You'll just need to search for the parts to lift the rear. You'll see his link on his signature. He had a post a few posts above here to go to his site. The parts we usually use on the rear come from rear Jeep TJ springs part# 104AA (3"lift for sportage) and 106AA (4" lift). You'll need shocks that travel farther than Sportage's OE shock. The 99 Toyota Rav 4 Shock has the proper travel and ride firmnesss to acomodate the springs. To answer another's question, A lift WILL alter an alignment whether you use longer springs or spacers.. the result is the same.. the length from the top of the strut to the double wishbone still increases. I know this is a repeat of info already on the forum, but I'm a sucker for helping the newbs get up to speed faster.
