In the picture below it looks like the rear lower suspension links are on dropped brackets. Are these parts available somewhere? Does this kind of setup perform well? I like the idea, but it looks like the bracket would hang up on obstacles pretty easily. -- Matt

I think those are part of the 4" lift kits like Pro Comp or Superlift sells. Might want to contact them and see if they sell them separately.

When I bought my truck it had a 4" lift on it from SuperLift. Same bracket extensions in the rear. Hit them on EVERYTHING, especially on the Rubicon. Pulled them out and switched to All Pro Off Road's extended Upper and Lower Control Arm Links, which both sit at an angle (parallel) and have worked well for me so far.

From All Pro Off Road's Website: (Link)
4Runner Lower Control Arm Links
We have created a totally new lower control arm. We started "Johnny Joints" made by Currie Enterprises. These high quality rebuildable joints are custom made just for this application and provide flexibility and control. These joints are TIG welded to 1.5" X .188 wall DOM seamless tubing.
These arms are made 1" longer than stock. This moves the axle back so that in lifted applications the axle is centered in the wheel opening. Lifting the rear suspension without lengthening the control arms causes the axle to move forward. Longer links allow the axle to be put back, restoring the wheelbase. Fits 1990-1995 4Runners.

Since I broke the front diff bracket several times I know it's possible to call SuperLift directly to order parts...

that's chris geiger's old 4runner that he has since sold.

geiger did a lot of pioneer work on 2nd gen 4runners and HIGHLY documented them on the web.

check out his old pages in off-road.com:

ORC was a big toyota hangout place until 4x4wire "came" along and ORC became more of a desert off road racing site...

and that's your history lesson of the day for toyota 4x4'er out there... lol...
