so customer "Chad" brought this to me late last week .. he's from Calgary . I didnt get a shot of the truck with the bed on .. but believe you me , it was bad . I got the box off . ![[Linked Image]](http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j2/bj_bumperboy/chads%20truck/HPIM0906.jpg) ![[Linked Image]](http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j2/bj_bumperboy/chads%20truck/HPIM0907.jpg) and started to clean up the frame .. second day , I got on cleaning again .. inside and out I used a small air chistle , and wire brush .. and "chipped" off all the rust .. worked very well .. ![[Linked Image]](http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j2/bj_bumperboy/chads%20truck/HPIM0914.jpg) as the truck sat overnight , ran into a small problem .. as usual , the brake lines were rusted , and just needed that little "hose action" to reviel a pin hole .. you can see it soaked the frame .. ![[Linked Image]](http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j2/bj_bumperboy/chads%20truck/HPIM0913.jpg) ![[Linked Image]](http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j2/bj_bumperboy/chads%20truck/HPIM0912.jpg) so in order to fix this .. I had to remove the fuel tank .. and of course with that .. the fuel line breaks .. as well as almost every bolt !! ![[Linked Image]](http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j2/bj_bumperboy/chads%20truck/HPIM0918.jpg) ![[Linked Image]](http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j2/bj_bumperboy/chads%20truck/HPIM0919.jpg) so now with the fuel tank removed .. you can clearly see the problem .. ![[Linked Image]](http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j2/bj_bumperboy/chads%20truck/HPIM0917.jpg) ![[Linked Image]](http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j2/bj_bumperboy/chads%20truck/HPIM0920.jpg) new parts ordered .. . couple of more things .. I'm replacing the shackles , as they were siezed solid , and removal was difficult . ![[Linked Image]](http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j2/bj_bumperboy/chads%20truck/HPIM0915.jpg) repaired the spare winch .. now it works !! [img] http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j2/bj_bumperboy/chads%20truck/HPIM0916.jpg[/img] and also .. continued on cleaning the internal frame rails .. 2ND cleaning pile .. [img] http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j2/bj_bumperboy/chads%20truck/HPIM0921.jpg[/img] .

Did you hit the spare tire winch with Kroil, or do some beadblasting, or a little of both? Ya make me cringe about my '83.

I got lucky on that one ..
I was able to use pry bar (after soaking with "viner-schlider" for a day) inching it back and fourth .. and finally breaking it loose ..

ok .. so a little more today .. I ordered a new fuel pump bracket , and even a diff vent continued working on getting the inside clean .. I "reduced" the vaccuum hose , so I could vac up the some of the pieces that just didnt want to come out .. ![[Linked Image]](http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j2/bj_bumperboy/chads%20truck/HPIM0926.jpg) I was able to pull some of the larger chunks out .. and then "suck" up the smaller debris . ![[Linked Image]](http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j2/bj_bumperboy/chads%20truck/HPIM0927.jpg) and one more air blast , and wash , and it'll be good to go ... also .. finished the repair on the brake line .. ![[Linked Image]](http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j2/bj_bumperboy/chads%20truck/HPIM0924.jpg) and also got the new shackles and bushings on .. LOTS of neversieze , and ..WOW the suspension actually works like it should now .. ![[Linked Image]](http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j2/bj_bumperboy/chads%20truck/HPIM0923.jpg) ![[Linked Image]](http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j2/bj_bumperboy/chads%20truck/HPIM0925.jpg) and also had to drill and tap some broken bolts .. did them on the frame , and also the fuel filler tube .. ![[Linked Image]](http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j2/bj_bumperboy/chads%20truck/HPIM0922.jpg) all washed and cleaned up .. I started the POR-15 treatment ![[Linked Image]](http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j2/bj_bumperboy/chads%20truck/HPIM0929.jpg) ![[Linked Image]](http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j2/bj_bumperboy/chads%20truck/HPIM0928.jpg) truck is now sitting in the shop over the weekend to "dry out" from the last clean and wash .. so MONDAY .. I'll be doing the frame . .

How did you get the POR on the INside of the frame?
If you PORd the bumper you want to put Chassis Black over it before it fully sets up. DAMHIK.
Did you weld plates over the thin, pinholed portion of the frame ahead of the spring hanger? If not, in a few miles he's gonna have a "Brokeback" Toyota.
