Sorry if this seems dumb, but maybe I am retarded. I have downloaded the zipped version from your site, but don't exactly know how to use it. Can anyone give a general overview on how I would use this to look up parts and diagrams? I have 3 folders: CAPS, PASEN, and WINCAPS. Inside the WINCAPS folder, I tried clicking on 'INSTEXP' thinking that was to install the new software. When I do that, it says it cannot open a certain file and cannot execute a certain file. So then I tried clicking on 'CAPSMAIN' which opens the program, but I can't get it to do anything. I can also click on 'CAPS' and it opens what looks like the same program, but again, I can't get it to do anything. Does anyone know what I am doing wrong? Sorry if these seems like a no-brainer to anyone. ::dusts off thread:: OK I can't get this damned thing to work either. I dl'ed it at work (T1 connection), unzipped it and get all 3 folders. I go in WINCAPS/CAPS.exe, it starts the app but wont do anything after this. I've uninstalled twice and reinstalled same useless garbage. Is this ZIP file corrupt? Any other downlaod links available??? MI-Mitsu

Try it from this link . This is the one that I've used several times.
Fasteddy's advice is occasionally sound...

The 3SI link is the same as in the OuterLimits one. I have a copy as well via my site, but is isn't clear which one to use. I'll work on cleaning that up.
As for the other versions, it seems that there is a short circuit in where the WINCAPS is installed, versus where the app wants to find its files. For example, if you install the good 3SI, then change the directory name to WINCAPSx, the app will launch, but then not really work once you try to do some lookups. The behavior is similar to how the other version behave for me, even though they are installed into WINCAPS.
I took a quick look for things like .ini files, but that lead me nowhere. That was a while ago though. I need to try again with more beers and time to kill...

I haven't see where everyone has gotten these versions of CAPS to work. Has everyone gotten their version to run ok? If not, here's a write-up I found on how to get caps up and running on your system which I found on stealth316's site ( http://www.stealth316.com/2-wincaps.htm). Has anyone tried this method to get CAPS working & more importantly, does it work?

Looks as though a few files may be missing? CD-WW.ICO for one when i try to run the set-up file.
Basically I keep getting a CD not loaded error.

Figured it out.. 1. Create a folder on C:(or any other drive root) called WINCAPS so it should look something like this C:\WINCAPS 2. Copy the contents of the unzipped folder "caps_usa" to C:\WINCAPS (in my case I am using the usa version. 3. Go to C:\WINCAPS\WINCAPS and run the "CAPS.EXE" file. 4. At the top left corner of the window pick "File(F)" and "Setup(S)" 5. Set the areas in red in the pic below to be the same. ![[Linked Image]](http://i653.photobucket.com/albums/uu258/cdl1701/setup.jpg) 6. Now give it a try. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" />

The thing I would like to learn is how to toggle, or switch between data sets. I expect there is a way to set Wincaps up so you can have two or three data sets and choose one for a session. If this may not be feasible then to have two separate versions that could both be open so I can the other data sets.
