Is servicing the 4wd as easy as just drain and refill?

Body Damage is Cool

Servicing the transfer case is a simple drain & fill... Just always make sure you can get the fill port off before you drain! <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/shiner.gif" alt="" />

What advice do you need about this procedure?

It's pretty straightforward. Remove the fill plug then drain plug. Replace crush washers if there are any. Replace and torque drain plug. Add oil until it's full. Replace and torque fill plug.

It is easiest to use a pump with one hose, not two, like this:

You fill it until it starts draining out the fill plug just like the diffs.

I first decided to change the fluid in the transfer case bc i was starting to hear a noise coming from the transfer case when accelerating. I just changed it today and that def helped, but the noise is still there, jus not as bad. Any suggestions?
