Finally got around to putting in the 3"body lift along with the original rubber spacers for an extra 3/4". Lift - including relocating the bumpers( cutting brackets and re-welding ) took about 7 hours. I will post pictures and tips ( some of Jays2001 came in handy ). Still had some rubbing around the front fenders after the lift so had to beat the inner fenders and trim part of the front lower mudguards and front bumper.

I want to put a 3" body lift in my automatic. I am not so skilled, so I am trying to plan all the work ahead of time. Could you guys help me out? It would be great if you still have some pictures. I made a list of things that will need to be done:
1- Relocated power steering reservoir; 2- Adjust gas filler tube; 3- Relocate bumpers; 4- Lengthen brake lines; 5- Cut floor for the 4x4 shift or bend shifter; 6- Lengthen shaft to the shifter linkage;
1 and 2 are really simple, and although I am not completely sure of how to do items 3, 4 and 5, I'll probably be able to figure them out. What worries me is number 5. I took the center console and lever apart to see how it works. If Im not mistaken, the shifter is only connected to a single metal shaft (like a stick) under the car. Theres a metal piece that goes from the shifter to under the body, and that metal piece connects to the metal shaft. The metal shaft has some threads, which I believe can be used to adjust the length of the shaft. If that is correct, I think I should disconnect the shaft, raise the body, and the use the threads to adjust the shaft to the new body height. Does it sound right to you?
Did you guys had to extent the steering shaft?
Now, concerning the body lift blocks. Have you guys bought the 4crawler body lift or have build it yourselves? The 4crawler costs 320 bucks, kind of expensive for me. I found a 3.5" diameter UHMW rod, the same material that 4crawler uses, for $17.66 per foot (http://www.usplastic.com/catalog/item.aspx?itemid=30479&catid=868). How hard is to cut this material?
Thanks

steering no but u will have to bend the inside fender well alittle so the steering doesnt rub u will understand once u get in the middle of it. not as bad as u would think just watch a/c lines and other things as u lift i have a total of 4in so u should have less trouble with the steering and shifter than i did good luck

UHMWPE isn't difficult to cut or drill, just a little messy for machining. I didn't think it was that difficult to work with. You should be able to part it off on a band saw. You will need to obtain or fab up some body extension bolts.
Let us know how it comes out.

Thanks for inputs guys. I'll keep an eye on the steering as well.
I bought some UHMWPE rods and will cut them in 3" pieces and drill the hole in the center. Do I need that concave shape on top and convex on the bottom of the blocks (just like 4crawler does)? I'm not sure of how to shape them that way. I'm having a hard time finding the extension bolts. I found some 14 mm coupling nuts and studs, but the pitch is always 2.0. I think I'll have to go to a machine shop to have them fabricated. Where did you guys get yours?
