I'm having mine done right now, they gave me a 2009 taco as a loaner, its a 5 spd now I've got the bug to get back into a stick vehicle. Does anybody know if the 3.4 crank is bored to accept a pilot bearing?

The 97 4runner auto 3.4 i got my donor for my engine swap (to 5spd) was machined for it.
I dont see why they would not have done it, why make 2 different crankshafts when everything else is the same?

I've heard it's like a 1% chance to find one not drilled for a pilot bearing, but even if it's not, it's not too difficult to remove the crank when the engine's on a stand, you should be replacing the water/oil pump and rear main seal anyways.
