Getting the Wheeling Fever
Drive it to Jiffy Lube and let them deal with it. I would double check everything in the parking lot before I took off.

Worked great for me when I couldn't get that dang upper plug on my tranny.

Hope I didn't offend the purists among us

No purists around here I don't think- more like those of us who don't like the lube monkeys stripping their stuff. I like taking a look around while I'm under there anyway to make sure everything is skookum.

I did a quick search & was amazed, I had no idea there were so many different oli filter wrenches available. Prety sure this site will cover most any need:

>>>*Over the years I have had my fair share of stuck filters, and most of the commercial types can squash the filter if it's really tight.

I was in the middle of a job once and got fed up, so I made a tool. I used an adjustable piston ring compressor, way more surface area. Even a half crushed filter would come right off. We still have that tool around someplace.

Now I keep a tube of black moly paste around, a tiny dab of that on the filter gasket seat, end of it ever sticking....*EB

Jiffy Lube? AAAACK! NOOOO! Anywhere but there. Midas, Pep Boys, Valvoline, whatever, but not jiffy lube. Ive heard waaay to many horror stories. Everyone I know that has been there said they have had some sort of problem, anywhere from a rounded off drain plug (they use impact guns to tighten them, and SAE sockets on a metric bolt) or they never change the filter, or they forget to put oil in, or my favorite, they leave the hood up on a car, bay door half way down, drive through the bay, rip hood off car on bay door.

They didn't quite get my oil plug tight once. Lost close to 4 quarts of oil before I found it.

Not quite- the term is a lot like ketsup- used for a lot of stuff. Knew the word growing up, so not an Alaska thing.

I taught the roomdawg if she MUST go to Jiffy Lube to insist on seeing the old filter to make sure the gasket came off with it.

Need a Spot
I tighten a big hose clamp around the filter and hit the handle of a long screwdriver to unscrew the filter -- same as using a chisel to loosen a nut.

Piston ring compressor would probably work the best like the other poster said-way more surface area contact!

I have the claw type thats near universal and never had an issues tbh.

Its vital you coat the new filter with new oil imho, never had one stuck that way-just with old oil.
