This is my first post here, so please be patient! I've read lots of pages but was looking for something else, so what I'm going to ask is probably in the forum...
Will the 3.5L from 2003 and up work as a swap for my 3.2? I remember reading that the intake would have to be changed, but I don't know about the ECM, sensors, etc. Can someone shed some light on this for me?
Even if the ECM had to be changed, are the plugs the same as the 3.2 ECM? In other words, could one just plug the new ECM in and then change the engine harness? I realize there might have to be some modifications done between engine harness and firewall connections, but that seems doable. As you can see, I know very little about this...
My 3.2 5spd. is kind of tired, and I'm looking for a little more power. That's why I'm interested in doing this.
Was the 3.5 problem with oil corrected in 01 or 03? Anyone know?
Any and all suggestions will be welcome. My fab skills are fairly high, as I put my Cummins in the F150 a couple of years ago, and I've done many engine conversions through the years. However, I am weak on electrical, so, therefore, I am quite apprehensive about it (no rewiring complete dash panels during a conversion for me)!
Hopefully you guys get what I'm saying here. I would consider a GM swap or anything, as long as the tranny would bolt up and major components were on the correct side. And the electrical wasn't too complex.
Thanks in advance and it's good to be aboard. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/patriot.gif" alt="" />
