Minneapolis-Moline built some weird, interesting stuff..

45mph in a (no suspension give..other than the flex of the tires) tractor would be a handful.. but that was 1938.. a lot different expectation than now...

I can get my '63 Ford 4000 tractor up to about 25mph in 10th gear on pavement. When you hit the slightest bump the whole tractor starts bouncing up and down on the pavement. Don't leave you feeling very safe

Hey, I grew up where there were roads signs saying "No discs or lugs on pavement", and I've actually seen one like that, belonged to the guy I used to work for, a gentleman farmer, Reynolds Metals maintenance machinist, Circuit Court Clerk, and maker of home made cannons and most fine corn whiskey (our one mixing of the last two was sort of a mistake - his barn suffered holiness and his wife would not speak to me for a year and one of his milk cows dried up). He also had a restored steam tractor that had belonged to his father, a really awesome beast. His next door neighbor was the Probate Judge, who went to the office in overalls, a collarless white shirt, Gum sole Ked's oxfords, and a huge straw hat. A gentleman farmer is one who didn't run an account at the crossroads store, but paid cash instead.

Very neat old tractor, brought back some treasured memories...
