fred,
go to http://www.imageshack.com/. upload your pic there and link here. just copy and paste. it's free and they don't send you a bunch of ads and crap either. it's real easy.

www.jeeppages.com is cool too but you can only put pics of jeeps in your album and it's not quite as simple. there are tons of others too but those are a couple free ones i have to host pics.

No here in Texas the deer know that if we have to get out into the cold to hunt em they're SOL. So we mount deer feeders to the back to make it easier on em. I wish i had gotten a picture of this one I saw. It was an 79 cj-5 with a tower 17 foot tower stand up top, a welded piece up front that held two seats for sitten on that part also had something to put your feet on. Then a feeder in the back. It was crazy. Go park that baby with the heater on. [Linked Image]

He thought about it before he got under there. He has 2 wheels against the curb so it won't slide sideways and he has a ROCK chocking the back wheel! Necessity is the mother of invention. But chit! I think I would dig a hole and shove the truck over it before I would go under that setup.

BJ ill be honest with you about the build up im learning how to weld and got my 1st last year so this is practice/learning for me all the stuff im doing is trying to learn and supervised at the same time ... although most dont agree with what im doing its a start for me and mistakes are easily corrected << because its so ugly it can all be taken off

Re: Post a picture of your Jeep - 01/11/05 03:49 PM

You askin' me? A fella in the club has a exo cage with a bow sprit like that and I've pondered it's purpose and decided the only thing it might be usefull for are to help one slide up on a rock or other vertical obstacle that's higher the front bumper (But that wouldn't work with those rigs 'cause of them shackles, you'd need a shackle reversal). The other thing it might do is, if you started to go end over end head first, it would cause the jeep to flip sideways and roll instead. I guess the short answer is I don't know. I'm sure some hardcore rockhound can straighten us out tho...
Posted By: TX4wl

Re: Post a picture of your Jeep - 01/11/05 04:37 PM

correcto jp its helps with those 2 you mentioned and 2 more it will protect the rad during a roll over and gives a good piont to have a strap to when going up some really off camber stuff so as to have people give ya that extra pull if needed to keep you from rocking one way or the other...as for the shakles they came on the heep soon to be tossed out....this heep is going through a build up and i am just adding things as i can...

Re: Post a picture of your Jeep - 01/11/05 04:42 PM

I'm sorry Pete I had my head under my wing.. It was not meant for you. Anyway whatever that taterdigger is for it is gonna tear hell out of the grill/hood if it is ever used. It neds to be tied back into the roll cage. the way it is fabbed will at the minimum close the hood for ever the first time it gets a hit.

That 'tater digger is actually called a stinger and the idea is to help prevent a forward rollover. Braced properly (neither the yellow Jeep or the one on the black Wrangler are) no damage should be done to the hood/grille. I've seen two endo type rollovers with these things that ended up with the Jeep landing on its side instead. Hard to tell which result would have been worse.

Those "bent" shackles are made that way. They are called boomerang shackles and help prevent the spring from inverting on extreme droop. That yellow Wrangler looks like a wannabe to me with that clamp together rollcage resembling a jungle gym. I sure wouldn't trust it.

Re: Post a picture of your Jeep - 01/20/05 07:22 PM

I was too pissed/panicky to take a pic when I got stuck! I wound up walking 6 miles & about 2,000 vertical feet down the trail to a town where my wife drove me back home. The next day it took a friend and me an hour to find the stupid spur where I'd left my Jeep and another 2 hours to get it unstuck!

Let's just say I learned a lot of lessons that day...
Posted By: Anonymous

Re: Post a picture of your Jeep - 01/20/05 08:31 PM

I've been there too (well, not quite, I haven't had to leave it overnight - yet). And I forgot to take the picture - It would have been good, my whole rear end went under water to about half way up the tailgate and my front was down to the frame in mud. The "trail" disintigrated on me after heavy rains and I thought I was going to have to walk out with my girlfriends 10 and 13 yr. old daughters. Drank a bunch of beers that night.

Re: Post a picture of your Jeep - 01/20/05 09:43 PM

I managed to get the catalytic converter hung up on a boulder, front wheels barely touching the ground and the rear wheels dug in (esentially got it good and high centered). We had to connect a chain and come along between my jeep and my friend's blazer to pull it backwards and finally had to use a hijack to lift it about 4 feet off the ground and drove it backwards off the jack. I was elated to have her back!

that YJ looks clean. i like what you did with the tail lights.

Sorry Sunder, haven't been around much. I picked them up at a local auto store when I saw their display. They are about 4-5/8 dia. and I think about $25 plus $6 for the pig tails. Pretty easy to do. I used a hole saw but I would lay tape, mark your circle and use a hand jig saw & blade the next time. A 4-1/2" hole saw is too expensive and it makes a mess of the sheet metal. Just aligned the bottom of the 4.5" hole with the existing opening, draw circle and cut. The rest it leaving pig tails for side lights and back-ups.
I went to a ricer shop and bought "Lite n Boltz" for the licence plate lights.

Sorry, I removed the Lite 'n' Boltz here, wasn't driving it on the road.

Hi

You dont have to be sorry, I'm sure you find my car at least intereting even tough it wont fit in your trips and mountain climbing.

I bet you laughed your butt out about the suspension and how short it is. But I am going to fix it a litle bit, I will have to get longer arms to hold the axel and lift it a litle bit higer. It has coil spring front and rear but it doesn't work properly.

I am most suddenly not hurt even if you have told me to burn this ugly thing down, I was only interested in what you said.

I didnt say anything that mean i was just questioning those big tires with that lift... but i was schooled on this as im not a snow/moutain wheeler and that may be the best set up.. i guess my joke was "do ya rub much?" something to that effect
Posted By: Anonymous

Re: Post a picture of your Jeep - 02/12/05 12:47 AM

Hi

Do I rub much?

I´m surly insulted!!!

But, yes it does. The mainproblem is that the suspension is not good enaugh so I will need to fix it. By lifting the Wagoneer 1-2 in I will be able to stop the rubbing and having some suspension.

The tires are 38"/15.5 on 12" wheels but I will need some wider wheels, 15" could be nice.

If you are interested there are more photos in my album but it is not working at the moment. For an example there where one Ford 250 6.5 TDi on 46" tires on the trip and a few Toyotas on 38" up to 44" tires.

The pics where taken around Kverkfjöll in Iceland and its around 100 km away from the nearest road that is usually possible to drive. It takes 6-8 hrs to drive there during winter in low range whith 2-3 psi tire pressure.

Jónsi, Iceland

I do have 2 riding mowers! Both are Tony Stewart ORANGE.
I do have a ranger... Bright RED with OFF ROAD wrote
on the side of it.
I also have a TV dish... But not in the front yard..
I think that is a REAL redneck thing.
I do not have a junk yard on my property! Is that black thing an AMC or an old Plymouth?

actually, there was some touching up done.... it's not red though, it's a rather sick pink color, but I understand you are trying to defend your honor...
AMC? No, that would be my father-in-law's Datson beater. He uses it to tow the Ford Explorer around the yard and jupstart his lawn tractor....
Oh, and the story gets better with the TV dish thing. It isn't even hooked up! It was an old service the in-laws had and they never took it down, guess that makes it even more of a redneck thing....
Just having fun here, but know that if you try to do the hex thing, well, you might not like what you get with it, but she'd probably would call.... haha

Hope you like her, as you can tell shes no where near done, but hopefully this summer. The tires make me want to cry, the previous owner bought 4 brand new tires for it, then just left it to sit, now they are rotten, I think the back ones are mud tires. End of Aprilish, I am getting new tires for the Amigo, and sticking the dualers on the Jeep.

Re: Post a picture of your Jeep - 03/13/05 05:51 PM

Well Guys (Texas Guys mostly) It has come down to getting larger ride for myself! I got my 87 Wrangler back from my son and now the little sucker has my 99 Ranger and is sporting it around town.
I have little to do so I am thinking about a ZR2 and dropping a 350 vortec in it.. Would give me something to do anyway. So here is my Jeep up on the block. My son has driven it to Wichita Falls last week and to BigH a few weeks past. I built the engine less than 15K ago and it has about everything new at that time.. Comes with the tires and wheels shown and 6 or 7 more alumn with goodyears on them. Only repair done to sheet metal was glass on the passanger floor. Tranny rear seal has very small leak, not much but some! I need $5500 for it and it would drive home! You might need some help getting the extra tires and wheels out of here.
Here are some pics. Send mail to: BigJimM@Austin.RR.com

SOLD IT! SOLD IT! 1ST LOOKER!

Re: Post a picture of your Jeep - 05/27/05 03:31 PM

The FSM covers YJ,s also. First time I've looked at a real one. It's the 93 edition but pretty much covers all the post 90 YJ's and a lot of XJ years as well. Very detailed info/specs on AX4 & 5's, ax15's, R32's, AW4's, Np231's, 242's, D30's, 35's and Chry. 8.25. Just the section on electrical, emissions, and AC is thicker than my YJ Chiltons manual.

Thats a sharp look Xj my man, I hear you on the FSM. I got them for my Cj, So if anyone needs info let me know and i will try to find it and get a copy of it to you. In this pic are both my haynes and chiltons as well as the two books for FSM..It dwarfs em.

1998 Beijing Jeep (Yes, it REALLY is a Jeep) - 10/26/05 06:24 AM

Greetings,

Used to be over on the ISuzu board (moderator) before I moved to China. Bought this a year ago:

[Linked Image]

It's as close to my "dream platform" as possible... a 4 door, rag top SUV.

3 inch suspension lift
Shocks from a 1st gen Toy Forerunner
15" AR Wheels
30" Maxxis Buckshot mudders

Not much else in terms of mods. Had the top off over the summer (it's permanent soft top), built a security cage for it.

And yes... it really is a "Jeep". Built as part of a joint venture between Shanghai Auto and the Jeep Corp. You can get Cherokee's and GC's here.

Not much four wheelin can be done here in the city, and 4x4ing is a new thing in China. I do a lot of stairways and construction sites. I get a lot of WEIRD looks. Especially driving up or down flights of stairs or over curbs and parking blocks. Heheh. Even though SUV sales have taken off over here, very few seem to use the machines to their full potentials.

later,
d

Re: Post a picture of your Jeep - 01/25/06 03:40 PM

Thanks. I bought the window brackets and lights from 4 wheel drive hardware and installed them. They are surprisingly functional because you can reach out the window to adjust. The cool thing about Florida is no law requiring a relay switch so you can turn them on/off at the flick of a switch. No stopping , crawling under the hood and engaging a relay switch before turning them on.

'90 2.5L YJ I got for $2000. Needed a rear seal, an O2, valve cover, and windshield. Could use doors too (passenger side held in by cargo strap). Put 31" tires on it, 1" shackles, and a 3" body lift (might have been a touch much but I certainly don't rub). This picture was after Tilamook Oregon...we forgot the camera on the trip.

I have the windshield assembly off right now and am replacing the windshield with polycarbon. It's an experament...

Since that photo I've put a set of those mirrors that bolt to the windshield brackets on. They make it legal without the doors but the don't really stay in place with the wind.

Here is my Wagoneer. Nothing special yet. This was a few days ago. Since then, I removed that chrome gutter piece on the drivers side on accident with my garden hose while I was washing it, and I have slowly been peeling off the plastic on the fancy little trim thing around it, mostly from the wind of the road. I think next weekend I am going to start peeling off the "wood paneling" stuff.

Would you have more pics of the trailer you could send me? I have a wrangler I am currently pulling parts off of for my driver and the remainder of it will just sit in my shop if I don't do something like this with it. I love the idea and would love to build one as well.

Let's see if I have this figured out...

...first Jeep. We've had it for a month and, thanks to BigJim's help, replaced the intake manifold and carb. Everything's running well now. We haven't even had it on a dirt road yet, though. ...hope to fix that soon.

Post a picture of your Jeep - 11/12/07 01:07 PM

Hello all,
I thought I would introduce myself before posting anything else. I am a north east native that has been in south Florida for the last 8 years. While I enjoy the mud and water we have here I really miss the rocks, nothing like a challenge to find out what ya can really do. I came down here for the amazing exposure to the saltwater, and I love the area, and the warmth, but I'm jonesin for some midwest hospitallity and the mountains.. The tallest thing around heree is the garbage dump, but even that is covered in lush green grass, kinda funny..
I've had some beater CJ's, YJ's,an XJ, ZJ, and my last and favorite WJ... I rolled the WJ a while back and have been looking for my next Jeep every minute since..Here is what she looked like..

Was originally going to wait until the spring when I've had time to work on this. But here it is. The bumper on here is going and I'm going back to the stock for the time being, when I get more money I'll buy a different bumper. I want something less shiney (read as BLACK)and tubular possibly with winch support.

Hello from Dubai "United Arab Emirates" Meet my 05' TJ recently modified by me and a friend. I actually got sick of the hard top and the soft top, so i came up with this idea. It's not done yet, will still add the spare tire, the off-road lights and some rack. I will also remove the lights i installed near the rear window. What do you think should i do or change?

[Linked Image]
Posted By: the_other_guy

Re: Post a picture of your Jeep - 03/05/08 06:50 AM

Maxseekers, your jeep is pretty awesome. Very unique. I like it. I would agree with your decision to get rid of the lights by the rear window, they look kind of out of place.

As you work through the build-up, consider a blow-by-blow write up with a few pictures that can be published.

I provide 4x4Wire shirts for articles submitted.

Also have 4x4Wire.com stickers available...

Great way to upgrade! Body looks in very good condition. Great find.

Which engine and transmission does it have?

Re: Post a picture of your Jeep - 10/30/10 12:54 AM

It has a 360 with a 727 behind it, the truck has had a lot done to it, I will add the link to the original start of the build.
