Re: Air intake swap? - 03/08/10 10:38 PM

Very easy......But just make sure you place/seal/silicone the air temp. sensor on the end!

And easy on that red oil stuff cause you may interfere with the Mass air sensor.....

Ricer gains mostly (prolly like 3 horses)

I say go for it!!

Re: Air intake swap? - 03/08/10 11:11 PM

Cool so i just have to buy the filter and nothing else, just attach it to the original tube, and i dont have to do anything to the engine itself do i? its complete stock, this filter would be the fist thing id do to boost power

Re: Air intake swap? - 03/09/10 12:08 AM

Took the ol box out and threw it away......

Did not mess with the mas and put the Air Temp Sensor on the distal end!

Got a new clamp too.....

Just so you know.....It works so Appropriately right now!

But ... does it have stature

Can you explain how you attached the air temp sensor in detail, please?

Don't know about "Stature" ...And why that would be so important???

Just positioned the sensor on the end and it is working fine!

Re: Air intake swap? - 03/09/10 12:25 AM

Great pics, really opens up a lot of space, but like 69442 said, can you describe in detail how you attached the Air Temp Sensor on the end.

Re: Air intake swap? - 03/09/10 12:27 AM

I just thought it would be appropriate to discuss it's stature, that's all.

So, did you glue, screw or tape the sensor on??

These may be worth a look if you want to extend the intake out to a snorkel

Re: Air intake swap? - 03/09/10 08:20 AM

you can take a look at this thread as well for some great ideas as well as part #s...although mine doesnt have the air temp sensor u can still use all the same parts and then do what hydra suggested with that

Re: Air intake swap? - 03/10/10 01:39 AM

Just got finished swapin the filter today guys. As far as mine goes, I don't have a air temp sensor so no drilling for me, ha but for stature I did reuse the old box and scoop mounted it under the filter and bolted the mass sensor mount back to the box. It runs good and sounds nice, thanks for all the help guys and ill try to post pics but I don't know how from a phone

Re: Air intake swap? - 03/11/10 01:37 PM

you dont need the air intake tube that is connected to the radiator. Just take it off. It serves no purpose now.

I just took mine off. I have a k&n filter in my box. Not a cone filter, just a square one.

Just a little heads up. Taking that tube off is what pushed me to do the snorkel. On mine that tube would colapse and it held me at 3000 rpm limit. It's very easy to get water in the airbox,(when wheeling), whith the tube gone. I have the k&n also, and it seems to be working great.
