Once I stop being lazy and finally get some free hosting I will post up some pictures of my ride. Seems like there could be some inter manufacturer battles coming up. Some good looking rigs though, what about a better picture of that last one.

Nice looking Montero. I think that Mitsubishis are really underrated, I am a big fan of them.

More info on the 4Runner My Land Cruiser (sold recently to a good friend):
More info on the Land Cruiser Next up is paint for the pickup and cams for the car. Beyond that, who knows? Maybe another 80 series (I regret selling it) or a 100 series Cruiser.

Only difference that I can see are the PIAA's, the 20% additional tint, the removed running boards, and the wheels/tires. The wheels are the TRD, but direct from the manufacturer, wrapped in Nitto's. Oh, and the roof-rack is sitting in my Mom's garage. That's the extent of the
external mods...

Here's one of my mitsus (his name is Mitsu).
He's a 2005 model, independent front and rear, but quite capable on all terrains except ice, where he falls flat on his grille.
![[Linked Image]](http://cn4xc.com/groupee_files/photo_albums/8/9/4/8941080712/3411062712_9432695BA152C172429385EE11C7001A.jpg)
He's pretty low on emissions, and gets really good kibble per gallon. He's Japanese, but was made in Canada. No modifications, 'cept for a winch line which he's not real fussy about...

Nice toys (as in play toys, not necessarily "Toys") in this thread!
Since I sold the 4Runner to Harry, this is my only 4WD toy (for the moment anyhow...)
At least it's dirty, much to the disbelief that the '05+ can actually go off road
That little tiny bed can actually fit all of this stuff!
Recently changed the wheels and tires to ProComp X-Terrains and 7189 wheels. Drivetrain will remain stock until the 3/36 is burned up. I have a Schrockworks bumper being built and I'll add some DeMello or Stubbs sliders before long.

Seems like a good time to make intros to the non-Toyota folks.
I use my outfit for multi-day/ multi-week, self-contained, backcountry off-road adventures in the western US. Some people just call them expeditions. Deserts or mountains, mud, sand or rock, I'm set up to do a little bit of it all. My gimmick is posting up pics of all the beautiful places I've been fortunate enough to visit, and then rubbing it in to the other members of my section. It's a job I take seriously and gleefully.
And you're next -
near Cody, Wyoming
near Moab, Utah
near Ennis, Montana
above Death Valley, California
near Monument Valley, Utah
Shiprock, New Mexico
Bear Lake, Idaho
Great Basin National Park, Nevada
above Leadville, Colorado
Glacier National Park, Montana
Greys River, Wyoming [img]

Wow, a great collection of images!
And some more from the Mitsu "crowd" !!!!
Some of us have made a few modifications, including this '94 4.3L GM CPI Vortec replacement into my 87 Mitsu (with GM A/T and tcase).
...which about doubled the torque of the 2.6L that was in there before!
![[Linked Image]](http://www3.telus.net/public/dhuysman/power.jpg)
Which provided ample power to enjoy the mud/snow in the Pacific North West...
![[Linked Image]](http://www3.telus.net/public/dhuysman/mud.jpg)
And sure made it easy to enjoy the sights of Colorado (Red Mountain ~13,000') after pulling the 16' fiberglass trailer all the way from the coast!

Not at all. Only been stuck twice. once in that photo you see me getting pulled. I burped one bead and lost another totally on a hell of the log skid road in sopping rain forest downpour. The other time... Well, I was helping a friend feed her horses in soupy conditions with chains on and I took a wrong turn. It was stuck for about two weeks until the ground froze enough.

This is OFF-TOPIC chat. It's where you can talk about basically anything. I know that Isuzu Talk has the stipulation that it has to be about Isuzu in someway. If not, it gets booted.

thanks! it started out as a dovetailed flatbed but then i decided to hang the bedsides on to get that actual truck look back again. i'm going to upsize(is that even a word?) to 39.5's so i might have to take them (the bedsides) back off. the bed sat in my backyard for close to two years before i got bored decided to hack it up.

Here is the easiest way I know of:
- Go to
Imageshack.us- Click on the "Browse" button and locate the picture
- Hit the "Host it" button
- After a few seconds you'll see a page with a bunch of URL's and a thumbnail of your picture
- Highlight the URL in the box labeled "Hotlink for forums (1)"
- "Copy" that URL and then start a new post here and "Paste" the URL

I guess I completely forgot to post in this thread.
Here's my latest rig. A 1995 Toyota Land Cruiser FZJ80. Bone stock for now, but it's replacing my 1989 Toyota Expedition PU, so it won't be stock for long. Near term plans, include front/rear ARBs, ARB bullbar, 9000lb winch, OME heavy springs (mabye 2.5" springs), African Outback rack, 33" MTRs, Slee sliders, and much more... It currently has 85K miles on it. More info
here .
This is my now retired 1989 Toyota PU. The short version is 22RE, 5 speed, 4" lift solid front axle conversion, 5.29s, ARB front, Lockrite rear. 35" or 33" MTRs. This is its last iteration, of many, many different set ups over the years. Waaay to many.... More info here
here .

Re: Pics of your truck(action or not) - 02/19/07 06:55 AM
Well, I appreciate that, but there's really nothing too fancy on there. I'll be building the Land Cruiser to have pretty much all the same stuff, but only better.
Ya, I will have to sell it. I'm in the process of removing things that I can use, then cleaning it up, tidying up the wiring, etc, and then up for sale she goes.
The funds hopefully generated will be put towards the LC in a fairly rapid initital build up, before the spring/summer season starts.
I really had severe mixed feelings about selling it at first, but after driving the LC the last couple of weeks, there's no doubt that the LC is the rig that we need and it would be just as capable as the truck off road, but better in so many other ways.

Truckhaven Trail in Anza Borrego..It was washed out real bad that time, I think that was about a year and a half ago. I also ran the calcite Mine trail that day. I tried to organize several trailrides in this area but no one ever shows up

We have a little snow 'round here...
Made the tracks up, then making parallel tracks back
Wow...at least you got yourself out! i dont have a picture of the incident, but i was taking my best friends little brother, my brother and their friend home right after the blizzard we had before christmas. i cut down a little fun detour that has some cheap and easy 4 wheelin, and ended up breaking through the top layer of snow in this gulley, which had frozen over, and burried my truck to the point that the drift was even with my hood!!!!! luckily, my friend's dad owns a heavy equipment hauling company, and after digging a trench around the front of the truck wide enough to walk, he used a big, catapiller D9 bulldozer to pull me back out onto the trail. after many months of taking a beating, i finally have redeamed myself by pulling his prized F-350 Powerstroke out of a small gully . very very funny. anyways, heres my baby.
![[Linked Image]](http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s142/250000_yota/mytruck2-1.jpg)
up by st. mary's glacier in idaho springs. my friend (mentioned above) owns a cabin about 10 miles from nowhere up their. it takes at least 4 low in a stock 4x4 to make it in THE SUMMER! during the fall hunting season, you need a lift and lockers at least to make it within 3 miles of the cabin. its pretty freaky.
This photo doesnt do justice to how steep the driveway is. he was down kneeling taking this photo. this is the driveway down to the cabin. during the hunting season, they park at the top and walk 50 yards to the cabin. its very bad.
the parkiing area at the top of the driveway.
here we were havin fun at my grandma's farm. we werent hurtin nothin....lol
she'll smoke 'em up...

Where is that picture taken at? The only decent place I know of around DFW to wheel is the 360 trails. I don't like going there on the weekends cause of all the ROWDIES out there...especially on Sundays.
I know Mineral Wells has some good spots, but that's a little bit of a drive.

People that get completely trashed out on the trails, and pay no mind to any kind of safety, and trash the trails. When dealing with vehicles, they are just not safe to be around.
I do drink on the trails, but I take my trash with me, and pay attention to the safety of those I'm wheelin with.

Thanks for the kind words.
I did not narrow my axle. It is a stock wagoneer width. 62ish WMS. Matches my Montero Sport axle in the rear perfectly.
Stock Raider is 59ish WMS, so thats why it looks wider.
SO narrow track wagoneer, defiantly not full width.

My junk today. Went to a local mudhole to get dirty yesterday. Great excuse to get the kids out of the house so my wife could wrap presents.
Note the "truck poop" under the rear axle. My kids spotted it today and cracked up telling each other that that's what it is. Silly boys. The oldest is 8
My middle son begged me to leave the truck dirty
The best part was when I stopped by Home Depot on my way home and some lady getting out of a Camry did a double-take and her jaw visibly dropped. I told her I got up this morning and found it like that
She said it was beautiful. Woman after my heart

Here's my 78 Cruiser in the winter of 93. I was trying to keep the road packed during an intense snowstorm & slid off the packed tracks. It was getting dark & I decided to deal with it in the morning:

Re: Pics of your truck(action or not) - 06/24/08 11:20 PM
I bought this last March -
It's a 1987 Toyota 4Runner with 124K miles. What made it so special? This....
Yup, a turbo 22RTE. One of only 700 licensed turbo 4Runners in the US. It came from the factory with a digital dash (very 80's) and a clinometer-altimeter. I thought it would make for a fun dd/run-around.
But I needed a 4 door and it wasn't exactly what I wanted. So I traded it 3 weeks later....

Yep they're Pajero's, the japanese version all imports, not the shogun that was sold here by mitsubishi. The Pajeros are generally speaking better equipped for the same money and more importantly rust free because they haven't been exposed to our bad weather.
This is my wifes soft top Pajero, due to be traded in for a euro hatch that'll do 60MPG (have you seen how much fuel costs in England )

Fuel in the UK? Yeah, my mother stayed with us for a couple of weeks. We worked out that it's the equivalent to $12 a gallon Having said that we drive a total of 40 miles a year in two cars which seems normal and you wouldn't beleive how hard it is to buy a car here that does 35+mpg. I still like it here though My mother runs a Range Rover in the UK on LPG but it seems the subsidy on that is fading away.

Love the new truck. You tested the snorkel yet? Nice discrete winch mount but is the fairlead still the same shape? I would have bent that in no time down there! Dynema (is that how you spell it?) and a low profile hawse fairlead would get round it.

Thanks Matski. The snorkel is untested at the moment but the winch mount has certainly been tested, 4 hours of winching to get myself and another Paj out of a sticky situation and it's still in good shape. A dyneema rope (or similar) is on my wants list but it's all I can do at the moment to find money to fuel the thing

I was goofing off on the dirt pile to the left of the trailer. I got a little high centered on the dirt so i punched it in reverse. The rear tire just crawled up the tires of the trailer. It was a bit tippy on top of the wheels. To get off i just turned the wheel to the right and backed up about a foot then turned the wheel to the left and punched it again.
Only two by the way.
