Hi again! - 02/22/12 08:21 PM

I think I introduced myself back in the past, but I've got some updates and thought I'd start over. I'm John, I have a 2005 Kia Sorento on 31's using a 2" Daystar spring spacer lift. Custom front bumper with engine skid and sliders is about the extent of my off road modifications.

Look forward to continuing discussions with you guys where I can offer any insight. I'll try and keep things updated here better. Hope you Sportage guys don't pick on me too bad lol

Nice, it's good to see a Sorento in it's proper element, I wish we had more Sorento's here. The Sportage guys should'nt pick on you at all, they already know what it's like to wheel something differant than the norm. Thats one of the things I miss most about my Sporty, all the "what the heck" looks, I don't get that in the Jeep.

That is a really good job on the bumper!

It's cool to see a Sorento Wheelin', not too many are willing to risk it with those.

Are those FWD based drive train or traditional logitudinal oriented engines?

The 1st gen Sorento are body on frame with low range 4wd just like the Sporty, they do have a v6 and a lower low range I believe, They are built right.

That is one beautiful rig. i love what you have done with the front bumper-wish i had thought about keeping the upper part of my original bumper before i installed my steel bumper.
where i live we dont have a v6 sorento- only a diesel 4 cylinder. but there are thingsto do- bilstein make sorento shocks. king springs (australian firm)make a 2inch lift kit.

I like it. Mechanically speaking there's no reason not to offroad them. they got proper goods as the sportage yep. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" /> They are rather a pretty suv in disguise. I'd never expect them to have been 4wd tcase and frame.. they remind me of the lexus rx350 so I immediately think AWD unibody. lol. Needs 'rough guy' mods like that awesome bumper. Good work!
