Personal Notes from Brian:
Rok Toytle History
Well, I bought the 85 Runner over my junior year spring break from NAU. I
flew up to Denver and drove it back 14 hours by my self in blizzard
conditions. I then spent the rest of my spring break swapping the
drivetrain and other parts from my 85 Extra Cab pickup. It took me all week to swap
the full drivetrain from the t-case down to both axles, cam, exhaust, bumpers,
shocks, etc. I pretty much ended swapping everything from the pickup to
the Runner except the body, engine and tranny. Everything else was swapped
from on vehicle to the other. It was Jen's 21st birthday over the break and
she wasn't too happy to spend her birthday and her spring break helping me
swap the trucks over. I bought it from the original owner and she took really
good care of it and it now had 173k on it and it still gets @ 20 mpg. It
has just started to eat some oil, but not enough to really worry about it yet.
Worst Stuck / Break
Well, I really don't have a worst stuck or break. I have been really
lucky so far. The worst break that I can come up with was bending my draglink
on my first Rubicon run. No one had a spare and we ended up welding flat bar
and an allen wrench on it to get me back to Tucson. I have also bent up a
rear drive shaft and ended up driving 25 miles back to Phoenix on the
front drive shaft. That is a lot of fun with a front locker!!! I have been
really lucky to not have gotten stuck too bad.
